Midweek Interview with Luis Palacios Larrañaga

Midweek Interview with Luis Palacios Larrañaga

We chat to the CCO of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.

The challenge for the industry is… Sustainablitity, to make travel experiences really unique while creating better opprutnitues for local communities.

The things I like about my job… Being able to promote the place that I love and getting to know a lot of great people around the world.

And the frustrations are … Sometimes not being able to spend as much time with my family as I would like

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…perhaps a Chef – I love to cook.

Favourite airline? Uff this is hard – perhaps Virgin I like the vibe in the planes..

My proudest moment was… when I finished my MBA

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… haha what happens in Cabo stays in Cabo

I try to relax by… surfing or golfing whenever there’s a chance to do it

The last time I feared for my life was… surfing on a huge swell in a storm I almost drowned..

If I can, I always try to avoid… taking red eye flights – I can’t sleep in planes it’s a curse…

I really wish I had… more time to surf and play golf

The best advice I’ve ever received was… ‘Lo cortes no quita lo valiente’ which translates roughly as ‘You can be both courageous and kind’

I don’t understand why people… can be so rude sometimes to other less fortunate people

My greatest weakness is… I’m too desperate sometimes

And my greatest strength is… My baby daughter

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… perhaps get a new house or invest it to make more money

If I was prime minister I would… try to listen to the neccesities of the people that elected me

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a… Base jumper

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Iceland or Easter Island

My favourite holiday was…  Christmas
