Tasmanian tourism spend reaches $1 billion

Travellers visiting Tasmania have spent a record $1 billion over a 12-month period.

The figure for the year to December is a 19 per cent increase on 2013, and came from more than one million tourists to the island state.

Premier Will Hodgman released the tourism figures on Thursday, which also showed that all regions of Tasmania had an increase in visitor numbers.

He also noted a rise in the number of travellers from Queensland and China.
