Oman wanderlust goes beyond the bucket list
Bucket lists aren’t the only things Oman Tourism is topping, with a score of name-drops adding to its ‘ultimate destination’ vibe.
The Sultanate of Oman Tourism (Australia & New Zealand) exhibited at the first-ever Bucket List Expo from 21-22 February in Brisbane, and it seems the destination is firmly planted at the top of Aussie travellers’ bucket lists.
From a striking exhibition stand and Bedouin-style tent, the Oman Tourism team of Mona Tannous, Margaret Spiro and Ben Alcock took visitors on a virtual journey around Oman – the best kept secret of Arabia.
Mona Tannous, country manager for Australia and NZ said they were thrilled to participate in Australia’s first Bucket List Expo.
“The level of interest from visitors was overwhelming. If Oman wasn’t already in their bucket lists before they walked into the expo, it certainly was by the time they headed home.”
Sultanate of Oman Tourism was awarded Best Exhibitor – Large Stand at the event.
But the flurry of recently released 2015 ‘hot’ lists suggests that Oman is on more than just bucket lists.
The Sultanate has been acknowledged on a number of major lists this year including:
> Travel+Leisure: 50 Incredible Places to Travel in 2015
> The New York Times: 52 places to go in 2015
> Yahoo Travel – USA: The It Destination
> Condé Nast Traveler Golden List 2015: The World’s Best Hotels
> CNN: Amazing hotels that Opened in 2014
> SKIFT: The Place to Visit in 2015 – Oman
> The Telegraph – UK: The world’s ten most beautiful ports
> Rough Guides: Top 10 Cities in 2015
> Buzzfeed: Spectacular Places to Travel in 2015
> Traveller Australia: Travel Writers Pick Top Travel Destinations for 2015
> USA Today: Affordable Dream Trips for 2015
> Men’s Journal: Destinations for Intrepid Travellers
> Wanderlust Readers Travel Awards: Travel Awards 2015
If there was a list for destinations most often featured on ‘hot’ lists, Oman would sit right at the very top.
