Guy goes glamping

After lying in my king sized bed for the afternoon the prawns smelt about ready. I grabbed a beer from the fridge, took my shellfish friends off the BBQ and watched the sunset dip behind Mount Warning.

On the grass below I can spot a group of wallabies soaking up the last bit of sunlight as the cicadas chime in right on queue. With the air smelling and tasting fresher no wonder the fauna and flora thrives out here.

Now for those of you picturing a luxury cabin or a schmick holiday house, you have been deceived by the likes of Glamping.

More commonly known as Glamorous Camping, this spin-off ensures it’s holidaymakers a world of comfort, so you can simply sit back and relax whilst still being immersed in nature.

Glamping is a key that once turned will open up a whole new world. Whether you want to explore tree tops, explore caves, run along beaches or climb mountains, each location has its own unique aspects.

My glamping experience however began nestled away in Tweed Valley in New South Wales.

Fitted with a bathtub, BBQ, running water, a shower, electric outlets, a fridge, a toilet and towels, my eco-pavilion was easy enough to call home for the next two-nights.

Set amongst 100 acres of bushland in the most bio-diverse region in Australia, the wallabies, birds, possums and toads aren’t shy, so be sure to hide left over food to avoid some friendly but unexpected visitors whilst you sleep.

Each morning a breakfast gift basket is left at your doorstep which includes a variety of fruits, yogurt, muesli, milk and juice, all sourced from the local farms to kick start you day.

Once fuelled you can undertake in a variety of activities including fishing, nature walks, bird watching, local excursions and biking.

Opting for a trip to the Border Ranges National Park I undertook a 4-5 hour drive to experience a range of spectacular views including the volcanic crater of Mt. Warning.

I then decided to visit the town of Nimbin for lunch which is only a short 15-minute drive from your Eco Pavillion. This small town is so interestingly different you have to tick it off the list whilst on your stay. With a few cafes and restaurants to choose from, Nimbin can definitely be used as a pit stop along to way to fuel up before hitting the road again.

After enjoying the property for 2-nights I would highly recommend this getaway for couples and friends looking for a relaxing vacation.
