Holland America Line have announced that as of December 1, 2014, Orlando Ashford will join the company as president.

Ashford joins the company from Mercer, the global consulting leader in talent, health, retirement and investments, where he was president of the Talent Business Segment.

Holland America Group chief executive officer Stein Kruse said, “We are fortunate to have Orlando join our team, bringing with him a career's worth of global experience leading high-performance teams that helped innovate some of the most respected and well-known companies in the world."

 

Discovery Holiday Parks has reported a 15% increase in Christmas holiday period nights sold to date across its nationwide network of destination parks.

Discovery Holiday Parks CEO Grant Wilckens said, “Based on bookings over this period at the same time last year, we’ve seen our key parks add a whopping 5078 nights away to the 2013 figures."

P&O Cruises has revealed that entertainment across its expanded fleet will take a bold new direction with dreamlike party nights and innovative new offerings set to transform each ship into a thriving entertainment precinct.

Carnival Australia's vice president of hotel operations Sture Myrmell said, “New party nights that make use of more great areas around each ship will add to the dreamlike quality of cruising and, in this new realm, big entertainment attractions are likely to happen anywhere onboard."

Nearly 50 agents from Australia and New Zealand have enjoyed a Mexican fiesta during this year’s CLIA Australasia Masters Conference.

The group of cruise agents spent six nights sailing the Mexican Riviera on Crown Princess as well as two nights pre-cruise on the legendary liner Queen Mary.

During a range of onboard conference sessions, participants learned how to apply advanced sales and marketing techniques to the cruise industry.

Princess CruisesDiamond Princess has made history in Western Australia today, becoming the first cruise ship to visit the city of Busselton.

The 116,000-tonne ship anchored off the coast this morning with her 2580 guests transferring to the city for a full day of sightseeing, shopping and tours.

Princess Cruises vice president for Australia & New Zealand Stuart Allison said the cruise line was excited to be the first scheduled visit to Busselton, with another nine visits scheduled in 2015 and 2016.
