Travellers Choice goes from strength to strength

By admin

Off the back of a successful past year of 33% growth, Travellers Choice looks to continue achieving results in the future through bolstering its company culture and supporting growth of its quality members.

Recognised over the weekend at the Travellers Choice 2014 Annual Shareholders Meeting for over 10 years of service, chief executive officer Christian Hunter told Travel Today he believes the success of Travellers Choice comes from the open support of its members who do not treat each other as direct competitors but colleagues working together.

Anticipating a higher future growth than the recent $1.6 million profit, Hunter said focus will be on the growth and development of this culture and “absolute dedication toward focused support of our preferred agreements.”

According to Hunter, forward sales for 2015 departures and beyond are looking very healthy, with traditional longer lead-time products such as cruise, river cruise and coach looking healthy with growth demonstrated across all three segments.

Keeping in line with the industry, the cruise market has grown to 21% across all members, prompting the relaunch of the Travellers Choice Cruise Club. Travellers Choice was the first group to launch a dedicated cruise club or element of membership that was totally focused on this important segment.

“Forward cruise business is however significantly ahead of that growth level and members have been absolutely dedicated in maximizing the opportunities that cruising delivers,” Hunter added.

New initiatives launched through the club have had “positive traction” according to Hunter, and will continue to provide more products, more offers and more opportunity to grow cruise business.

Hunter also added that in development and growth of the culture amongst existing members will come expansion of the membership base. In the last 12 months Travellers Choice has welcomed a number of new quality members, something that will increase in the year ahead.

Also announced over the weekend was the appointment of Mark Brady, as the newest member of the Company’s Board of Directors.

Brady, who replaces Moss Vale Cruise & Travel director, Anni Baillieu, has more than 30 years’ experience in the Australian travel industry.
