Luxperience "not about numbers"

Luxperience "not about numbers"

Luxury travel trade show Luxperience has said it is “not about the numbers” and will cap growth at 300 exhibitors after recording 228 exhibitors this year.

“It would affect the quality and the intimacy of the event… less numbers is better for doing business,” Luxperience chief executive Lindy Andrews told Travel Today.

Andrews is focused on building a community around Luxperience as the event has grown from 100 exhibitors in 2012, 149 in 2013 to 228 this year.

“It would be nice to hit 300 next year but we are very selective about our exhibitors and they have to be right,” Andrews said.

Andrews said that Luxperience sits in its own niche by focusing on experiential luxury.

“Pure sits in the experiential space, ILTM sits in the luxury space and we straddle both,” she said.

Held at Sydney’s Walsh Bay Pier 2/3 this year, the organisers are considering moving the show to other Australian locations.

“It’s a difficult city, it’s extremely expensive so it’s not necessarily viable,” Andrews said.

Last year’s show had an equal split between domestic and international exhibitors, while this year international sellers grew to represent 60%.

“Once we start to build the community around Luxperience we may be able to move it to other areas,” Andrews said.
