STA Travel celebrates 35 years

STA Travel celebrates 35 years
By admin

This month, STA Travel will celebrate its 35th birthday, and to mark the occasion it’s encouraging even more Aussies to seek adventure in 2014 and beyond.

The company will kick off celebrations with a 35 Years of Adventure Sale, up to 15% off Contiki Europe 2015, and $100 off worldwide adventures, as well as a number of other discounts.

The STA Travel Hub in Melbourne also celebrated the birthday last night with some of its long-standing employees.

STA Travel Australia’s managing director David Green said he is proud to have been offering millions of travellers an array of adventures for over three decades.

“For 35 years we have catered for anyone with a passion for travel, not just students but young professionals and the ‘young-at-heart’ traveller,” Green said.

“More than 2.5 million people travel with us annually and this is really encouraging for us as we move into an online world where digital booking is becoming more popular.”

STA Travel was founded by two Australian students in 1976, and originally named ‘Aus Travel’, aimed to help adventurous students explore the world.

The company renamed itself STA Travel after three years, with its first store opening at The University of Melbourne in 1979.

Today the company employs over 3000 people in 17 countries after it expanded globally in 1990.

“We are overjoyed to be continuing the adventure with Australian travellers and I am thrilled to be leading STA Travel into the future,” Green said.
