Queen photobombs Hockeyroos as Games kick off in Glasgow
By admin

The Glasgow 2014 XX Commonwealth Games are underway in Scotland and everyone is getting into the spirit of things, including the Queen who photobombed our Aussie Hockeyroos, Jayde Taylor and Brooke Peris.

The teammates took the picture before their opening match of the Commonwealth Games against Malaysia, which the Hockeyroos won 4-0, at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre, where the Queen was introduced to the players.

The opening ceremony involved 2000 volunteers and performers who put Glasgow on the world stage during a spectacular start to the Glasgow 2014 XX Commonwealth Games.

VisitScotland chairman Mike Cantlay said the opening ceremony was “truly a celebration about all that is brilliant about our country, from our achievements, through to our music, culture and of course our welcoming people.”

Glasgow will welcome over a million spectators, as well as 4,500 athletes and global media over the 11 days of the Commonwealth Games.

“It will not only be our athletic stars on show but also Scotland’s tourism industry, world-class venues and famous hospitality,” Cantlay added.
