The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has issued a call to arms for travel intermediaries to register for AFTA Travel Accreditation Scheme (ATAS) workshops. The workshops will be held in Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney between May 15 and 29. Agents can register here.

 

Travelport and AirAsia have announced a new partnership that will see the airline distributing all its fares and additional services through Travelport's GDS for the first time.

 

Jetstar has today announced the appointment of Grainne Kearns to the role of group chief information officer. Kearns commenced in the role in the latter part of 2013.

 

Tourism Malaysia Australia has appointed Moti Uttam as marketing manager for its Perth office. Uttam joins a team of six in the William Street Office, assisting director Kamilia Hani to promote the destination to both consumer and travel trade. 

 

The Shoal Bay Resort & Spa has taken on new ownership and management and will be rebranded as Ramada Resort Shoal Bay from Monday March 31.

 

Sunshine Coast Destination and Fraser Coast Opportunities will jointly showcase Australia's Nature Coast in a series of workshops and forums held in Sydney and Melbourne from April 7 to 11. The Nature Coast spans the Sunshine and Fraser coastlines in Queensland.

 

Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic has announced it will launch four new expeditions and reinstitute another four for its 2015 season. Madagascar, Morocco, Sri Lanka and the Seychelles are among destinations that will be visited next year.

 

New Caledonia Tourism is soon to host three soirees roadshows to promote the destination to travel agents. The events will take place in Brisbane on March 31, Melbourne on April 1 and Syndey on April 2.
