Sydney is a food mecca this March
By admin

Foodies can rejoice with all the gastronomic offers on in Sydney this month.

Get special deals at top restaurants or learn from some of the city's best chefs as the city celebrates food, wine, sweet treats and local produce.

NSW FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL

February 21 – March 21

Discover what the state has to offer through a month of mouthwatering special events in the city and beyond, ranging from one-off dinners, to sparkling brunches, to $30/$40 lunches with wine at places such as The Bridge Room, BLACK by ezard and glass brasserie. High teas or dessert with a glass of sticky are also there to whet your (sweet) appetite.

ARGYLEXCHANGE FESTIVAL

February 17 – March 31

If you're wandering the cobbled streets of The Rocks, you could head to this little restaurant mecca that includes Ananas, Sake, The Cut and The Argyle, all within walking distance. Throughout March, the festival is offering masterclasses with top chefs (such as The Cut's Grant Croft), alongside specials and cheap meals ($25 lunch/$35 dinner). Not bad, especially considering two of the four were awarded one chef's hat from the SMH Good Food Guide.

TASTE OF SYDNEY

March 13-16

For four days, some of Sydney's top restaurants will offer select menus for foodies to sample, while local and international producers show off their wares. More than 15 restaurants are involved this year, including Colin Fassnidge's Four In Hand and 4Fourteen, Argentinian bar and grill Porteno, Newtown's Bloodwood, and the Hunter Valley's Muse Restaurant.

AUSTRALIA'S CAKE BAKE AND SWEETS SHOW

March 21-23

If you have an insatiable sweet tooth, love to bake or are a keen cake decorator, this one-of-a-kind event will be right up your alley. For three days get tips from the best in biz, including Ace Of Cakes star Duff Goldman, Great Australian Bake-Off judge Dan Lepard and Australia's very own Adriano Zumbo. You can also sample sugarific treats and finally grab that cookbook or cake tin you've been meaning to buy.

LOST PICNIC

March 23

Food and music collide in this one-day event at Centennial Park, where you can chill out to top-notch Aussie artists such as Megan Washington, The Rubens and Emma Louise, among others, while nibbling on your gourmet hamper (pre-purchase available). And by gourmet, they mean hampers put together by top chefs: Martin Boetz (ex-Longrain) and The Keystone Group has designed Northern European-inspired food with locally sourced producer, while Icebergs restaurateur and chef Maurice Terzini is offering an Italian option in collaboration with Cherry Kitchen.
