Jetstar to launch MEL-Phuket flights

Jetstar will launch non-stop flights between Melbourne and Phuket from December while frequencies to Hawaii from Victoria will be increased.

The Qantas off-shoot will operate two weekly flights to Phuket from December 14, rising to three in March.

“We see a lot of customers booking flights to Phuket via Sydney and Singapore so we’ve decided to add a non-stop flight for Victorians,” Jetstar Group chief commercial officer David Koczkar said.

From December 19 Jetstar will also add a fourth weekly flight between Melbourne and Honolulu and a sixth weekly flight between Melbourne and Singapore. The additional A330 services will operate until the end of January.

Jetstar said the additional flights, coupled with the launch of Adelaide to Auckland services in December, will mean the suspension of a four times weekly service between Singapore and Osaka from November 1 and its three times weekly service between Singapore and Beijing from November 30.

Koczkar also flagged the arrival of three Boeing 787 Dreamliners which will join the Jetstar fleet before the end of the year.

The carrier said it is exploring a range of destinations for the 787.

Meanwhile, in a separate announcement, Jetstar Asia said it will add 18 weekly flights from Singapore to Indonesia, Cambodia and China from October 27 following the arrival of two more A320s.
