One&Only to manage Hayman Island

One&Only to manage Hayman Island

Luxury island resort Hayman Island will undergo a multi-million dollar makeover before being relaunched as One&Only's first Australian resort in April.

One&Only Hayman Island is the result of a management deal between the property’s owner Mulpha Australia and global firm Kerzner International, with Mulpha to retain full ownership of the resort.

‘Kerzner is the perfect partner to herald in a new era for the resort under their One&Only brand,” Mulpha executive chairman Seng Huang Lee said.

“The transformational refurbishment combined with One&Only’s innovation and commitment to delivering an extraordinary level of service will redefine resort luxury in Australia.”

Kerzner chief executive, Alan Leibmann described the island in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef as the “perfect destination” for the brand’s Australian debut.

“I know the resort will be well received by our many loyal One&Only guests, as well as guests that have been enjoying Hayman for years,” he said.

“My personal commitment is to make One&only Hayman Island a ‘must stay’ for the well travelled to explore the wonders of this magnificent destination.”

Meanwhile, the Tourism and Transport Forum welcomed the significant investment at the upper end of the accommodation sector.

“Australian tourism operators are increasingly seeking out high-yield visitors and this investment will position Hayman as a world-class luxury destination for people seeking unique and exclusive experiences,” chief executive Ken Morrison said.

“Investment like this is essential to ensuring Australia’s tourism product is globally competitive, as resorts and destinations around the world constantly strive to improve their product and service offering.”

One&Only currently has eight properties worldwide in locations such as Mexico, Dubai and the Maldives.
