Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has reported a mixed set of results for 2012 with overall sales falling just over 1% to US$27.7 billion.

Latin America turned in the strongest performance with transactions rising 21% – boosted by two acquisitions made the previous year – while North America increased 2.3% as economic conditions improved.

But Asia Pacific transactions dipped 2.4% despite a strong showing in China and Japan and in Europe, Middle east and Africa, business dropped 4.4%.

CWT described the result as solid.

"We are very pleased with our performance over the last year," CWT president and chief executive Douglas Anderson said. "As a global company with local operations all over the world, our diverse client portfolio has provided stability despite a fluctuating economic climate."

CWT did have success in its specialised areas where it reported "significant growth".

Transactions in CWT Energy Services climbed 22% while CWT Meetings and Events organised 35,000 meetings and events for one million delegates, a rise of 10%.
