Virgin Australia most punctual airline

    ????????????????????????????????????

Australians who want to ensure they arrive at their destination on time are better off flying with Virgin, according to data and statistics collated by national insurance company Budget Direct.

Budget Direct released its Destination Delayed online tool, which collects recently released 2015 flight data from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE), comparing reliability of Australian airlines to national airports every year from 2004.

The data revealed Virgin Australia was the most punctual airline in 2015, with 90.44 percent of flights arriving on time.

On the flip side, Jetstar recorded the highest percentage of delays, with 21.51 percent of its flights (or every 5th) on average, not meeting the mark in 2015.

Qantas arrives on time more frequently than many business people rushing to interstate meetings may believe.

Staying consistent, over the six years leading up to 2015, Qantas has arrived at its destination on time overall more frequently than Virgin has.  Both Virgin and Qantas happened to experience the most delayed arrivals since 2004 in the same year – 2008.

Meanwhile, Tigerair has demonstrated a marked increase in service reliability. Once notorious for late arrivals and departures, the airline experienced just 13.87 percent flight delays in 2015, compared with 22.32 percent in 2014.

According to Budget Direct’s Director of Partnerships and Communication, Brad Seymour, as passengers continue to be marketed to with more competitive pricing, airlines servicing domestic flights need to find other points of difference to set them apart, and performance becomes one of them.
