The Unique Tourism Collection has been appointed Australia’s representative for Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

The Sydney-based travel and tourism marketing and communication specialist will be responsible for sales, marketing and media activity for MMPRC, working closely with industry partners and media and developing strategic opportunities for driving Australian business to Maldives.

MMPRC is the national tourism office of Maldives responsible for carrying out promotional activities to become the most preferred island destination of the world under the theme of Maldives…the Sunny Side of Life.

The office also adheres to its mission to promote quality and sustainable growth in the local tourism industry to deliver long term economic, social and cultural benefits to the country.

Announcing The Unique Tourism Collection’s appointment, MMPRC deputy managing director, Mohamed Adam said arrivals from Australia to Maldives had risen significantly over the past three years with diving and surfing major drawcards and the honeymoon market also a prime contributor.

“Australia remains very important and this new presence for us will be integral to our objective of increasing arrivals from this market to 25,000,” Adam said.

Meanwhile, MMPRC’s recently announced Visit Maldives Year 2016 campaign is now underway and seeking to achieve a rise in total tourist arrivals to 1.5 million by the end of next year.

The vision of VMY 2016 celebrations is to strengthen the brand and position Maldives as an exclusive tourist destination by showcasing the island’s diversified tourism product.
