This week will see Travel Counsellors from across Australia gather in Melbourne for the company’s annual national conference.

The event will take place from February 28 to March 2 at Crown Melbourne on the banks of the Yarra River. There will be over 170 delegates in attendance including over 80 of the company’s agents plus the company’s directors, head office staff and a range of guest speakers and suppliers.

“There is no doubt it has been an year of big changes for the industry, but we are firm believers in the power of positive thinking and know events such as our annual conference are truly inspirational and motivating for our agents in Australia,” general manager Australia Tracy Parkinson said.

“This year will be no exception and we will be making a host of new announcements and initiatives to help our travel counsellors keep in touch with their customers and grow their businesses.”

 

Emirates will launch a daily Boeing 777-200LR service to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport – Terminal 5 from August 5.

Chicago will become the airline’s ninth gateway in the US, following soon after the commencement of its services to Boston on March 10.

 

Building has commenced on the new $30 million Novotel hotel in Albury located on Smollett Street, delivering the city’s newest internationally branded hotel since the 1970s.

The 120-room hotel will be managed by the Accor Hotel Group following the signing of an agreement in October with owners.

Novotel Albury will create more than 200 construction jobs and then 30 permanent jobs in the local community when the hotel becomes fully operational in 2015.

 

Metro Hospitality Group has appointed Harry Leong to the position of general manager of its flagship property, Metro Hotel Sydney Central.

 

Quest Serviced Apartments new property in Abbotsford is on track for its April launch with bookings coming in steadily, according to the serviced apartment firm.

The property will feature 93 brand new studio, one, two and three bedroom serviced apartments.
