Double christening for Travelmarvel's newest vessels
By admin

Travelmarvel had double reason to celebrate last week as it christened it’s two latest European river cruise ships, the ms Travelmarvel Jewel and the ms Travelmarvel Diamond, in K√∂ln, Germany.

With the sun shining down on proceedings, a party of some 100 VIPs led by Travelmarvel general manager, David Cox, enjoyed an on-deck reception prior to the ceremonies.

Godmothers were, for the Travelmarvel Diamond, longstanding employee and director of Europe operations, Europe and Russia, Trish Bannon; and for the Travelmarvel Jewel, David’s wife, Caroline Cox.

K√∂ln Cathedral’s Father Reinhard Friedrichs blessed both vessels, before the godmothers christened the ships in the time-honored tradition, breaking a bottle of Champagne against the ship’s hull before signing the town’s ceremonial ‘Golden Book’. Both bottles smashed first time, which according to superstition, promises a lifetime of prosperity for each vessel.

Following the ceremony guests enjoyed a traditional dance performance from the children of ‘De P√§nz us dem ahle K√∂lle’ dance group who delivered a traditional dance performance.
