Travel DAZE MC Chris Taylor Talks Travel In Hilarious Q&A

Our industry-leading conference Travel DAZE is around the corner (9 June!), and we’re counting down the days by shining a spotlight on our stellar lineup.

Today we’re sitting down with writer, performer, broadcaster, and all-around funny guy, Chris Taylor.

But before you check out this hilarious Q&A, don’t forget to click HERE for your access tickets to this industry-leading conference.

Just enter the number of tickets you’re after, enter the access code “AGENT100” plus just a few particulars, and it’s Travel DAZE here you come!

Chris is well known as a member of The Chaser team, responsible for award-winning television shows such as CNNNN and The Chaser’s War on Everything on ABC-TV.

More recently, he was the creator, co-writer and producer of the critically acclaimed drama Upright for Foxtel, and helps run the Giant Dwarf theatre venue in Sydney.

He also has a reputation as one of Australia’s most sharp-tongued and lively MCs, which is where you’ll find him at Travel DAZE…

TW: What was the last trip you took before the pandemic, Chris?

CT: I went on a holiday to China, and did an amazing tour of all the wet markets. In hindsight it was probably a mistake to bring my emotional support pangolin along for the ride.

He’s such a nightmare at markets: so indecisive, always getting lost, hopeless at haggling. Oh, and he also created some weird virus thing that brought the world to its knees. But it was the poor haggling that I still can’t forgive.

TW: What has been your biggest travel disaster?

I once ended up on Channel 7’s Border Security show trying to smuggle two rare pythons into Australia.

I received a court conviction and a $5000 penalty, which was fine, but I never overcame the shame of appearing on Channel 7.

TW: If you had to take Bob Katter, Clive Palmer or ScoMo on a holiday who would you pick and why?

I’d take Scott Morrison to Hawaii – he knows that place better than he knows Australia, so he’d be the perfect local guide.

I’d also take Clive Palmer, so we can afford to stay at all the best hotels.

And Bob Katter can join us too – so we never get sunburnt under the shade of his hat.

TW: Where do you most want to go next, and why?

I hear Ukraine’s offering some really cheap deals at the moment.

TW: What’s a place you didn’t want to go to but ended up loving?

The 9/11 memorial. There’s a deli just over the road with the BEST BAGELS EVER!!!

Oh my…

For a day that will be just as entertaining and it will be enlightening, don’t miss Chris at Travel DAZE!
