CLIA adds extra support for agent recovery to 2022 membership

The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has opened up its 2022 membership for Aussie and Kiwi travel agents, with added benefits to support members in recovery.

Agents who sign up to become members of the association in 2022 – and existing members, of course – will get access to bonus commissions, live events and an expanded education program.

In 2022, CLIA’s Travel Agent Rewards Program will offer rewards with a combined indicative value of over $1,500, meaning agents can potentially repay the cost of their CLIA membership many times over.

CLIA’s 2022 members program are also expected to see the return of live events, including the annual Cruise360 Australasia conference which is scheduled to be held in Sydney on Friday 4 March.

The travelling education program CLIA LIVE will also return to an in-person format, visiting major cities throughout next year.

CLIA’s managing director for Australasia, Joel Katz, said the 2022 membership program had been designed to offer the best possible support to CLIA members as the industry worked to accelerate its recovery.

“Our aim is to ensure CLIA travel agents are the best equipped to benefit from cruising’s revival,” Katz said.

“Being a CLIA member means you are a partner in a worldwide movement as we work to make sure Australia and New Zealand are integral to cruising’s global recovery.”

Education will be a key focus in 2022, with an expanded range of webinars and professional development options, and the Members Hub will be expanded to offer new education options and more resources to help agents as they market and sell cruise.

On top of its 2022 membership drive, CLIA has been busy preparing for a busy summer season of online education opportunities for its members, beginning with the return of its Cruise Port & Destination Virtual Showcase next month.

Running from 16 to 25 November 2021, the showcase will offer presentations from 12 CLIA executive partners, each providing practical insight to assist cruise clients in getting the most from future visits.

Showcase presenters will include Tourism Western Australia, Samoa Tourism Authority, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Singapore Tourism Board, Korea Tourism Organization, Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau, Department of Culture & Tourism Abu Dhabi, Qatar Tourism, Cruise Atlantic Canada, Port of Seattle, Visit Monaco and Cruise Baltic.

The two-week webinar program is designed to offer insight into each destination including helpful information like the location of cruise terminals, details on public transport services, touring options and insider visitor tips.

Participants can earn three CLIA Accreditation points for each destination presentation they join live after completing a short quiz. There are also 10 prize packs to be won simply by collecting destination code words during each presentation.
