TripADeal appoints new chief operating officer

Byron-Bay-based online travel agency (OTA) TripADeal has announced the appointment of Matt Wolfenden to the role of chief operating officer.

Wolfenden joined TripADeal as general manager of wholesale in 2017 after working with the Gold Coast Titans NRL team.

One of his first projects off the ground was the OTA’s partnership with Travellers Choice, which allowed TripADeal products to be sold via bricks-and-mortar agents.

Wolfenden then assumed the positions of operations manager and head of product and operations.

TripADeal founder and co-CEO Norm Black said: “Matt has proven to be a real asset to our business.

“The last 12 months, in particular, presented a number of significant challenges for our team and the wider travel industry to overcome. The way Matt adapted and rose to meet those challenges has been an absolute credit to him.”

Commenting on his new role, Wolfenden said: “In my time at TripADeal, the company has seen incredible growth and evolution up until the beginning of 2020 when the world came to a grinding halt.

“The business and our customers were met with incredible challenges and change as a result of the global pandemic.

“We continue to work hard to navigate through it all to ensure we offer our customers the best possible outcomes, meanwhile working hard to prepare for the return of international travel.

“While we respect the current conditions, I am extremely excited for the future with the roadmap we have planned for TripADeal.”

Domestic travel will continue to be a key focus for the OTA in 2021 and beyond, with new guided and self-guided tours, hotel stays and resort packages being rolled out to complement its existing offering on a weekly basis.
