Webjet joins AFTA, gains ATAS accreditation

Online travel player Webjet Limited has joined the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) and is now ATAS accredited.

The Australian-owned, Melbourne-based business is run by managing director John Guscic and is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Webjet services both the consumer markets through its Webjet OTA and Online Republic brands, as well as the global wholesale accommodation market through its WebBeds brand.

AFTA chief executive Darren Rudd said: “Webjet is an influential and significant player in our sector, and we welcome them as an AFTA member and ATAS-accredited agent at a time when industry unity and combined voice is more important than it has ever been.”

Shelley Beasley, group chief commercial officer at Webjet, said the company was delighted to be joining AFTA at such a critical time for the travel industry, and is “keen to play a role in addressing the major issues that exist in the rapidly evolving travel landscape”.

“Now more than ever, we need to work together in determining a roadmap through the minefield that COVID-19 has created,” she said.
