Midweek Interview with Collette’s Lexy Wildash

This week, Collette’s marketing specialist gave us tips on how to get the perfect money shot at the Trevi Fountain without getting mobbed by crowds.

The challenge for the industry is…

Managing reputation – the online and social media world has really made it easy for anyone to write about their experiences (good or bad) and it reaches many more people than word of mouth ten years ago.

The things I like about my job are…

The opportunity to travel and build connections all around the world. The people really make coming to work so much easier!

And the frustrations are…

Time differences – they make it a little more difficult to communicate.

If I didn’t work in travel, I would be…

On a permanent holiday! 4 weeks of annual leave isn’t enough, especially when you are working in travel.

My favourite airline is…

Cathay Pacific.

My proudest moment was…

I organised a Relay for Life team to raise funds for the Cancer Council in honour of my uncle who passed away from oesophageal cancer. I personally raised close to $5,000 which I was really proud of.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

Looking at Christmas presents before I was meant to…I hate surprises!

I try to relax by…

Researching and planning for upcoming holidays. I am always at my happiest and most relaxed when I have a holiday to look forward to.

The last time I feared for my life was…

Flying in a tiny plane from the Greek Island of Paros – you could feel every little bump.

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Waking up earlier than necessary – I love my sleep.

I really wish I had…

My next holiday booked. It’s unusual for me as I like to have one booked at all times.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

If you find a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life (thanks Dad).

I don’t understand why people…

Go on their phones in a social situation – I think we need to live in the moment more.

My greatest weakness is…

Chocolate and not being able to read a map…

And my greatest strength is…

My curiosity.

If I was prime minister, I would…

Be doing a lot more to assist with these devastating bushfires, not enough is being done.

If I won $1million on the lottery I would…

Head straight back to travelling around the Mediterranean and invest in some property.

If I could be someone else for one day, I would be a…

A singer – it would be nice to not be told to shush every time you sing.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

Japan! It’s definitely one of my next trips.

My favourite holiday was…

My recent trip to Europe with my partner. Travelling around the Mediterranean in the summer heat was an absolute dream. Hopefully can get back there within the next two years.
