Virgin’s check-in system back to normal following outage

Virgin’s check-in system back to normal following outage

Virgin Australia has resolved an issue with its check-in system and guests are being processed as per normal after an outage which reportedly left passengers stuck in baggage lines for hours.

The airline warned customers about the issue around lunchtime yesterday on social media, which affected airports across its network.

ABC Grandstand commentator Zane Bojack was one of the affected passengers, and described the situation at Brisbane Airport as “absolute chaos”.

Travel Weekly understands Virgin’s teams in the ports were able to manually check-in guests for their flights during the outage. The airline also provided regular updates to our guests throughout the outage on its Twitter and Facebook pages.

A Virgin Australia spokeswoman told Travel Weekly that the airline worked quickly to minimise any flow-on disruption from yesterday’s check-in system outage, which lasted roughly three hours.

“We apologise to guests for any inconvenience caused,” the spokeswoman said.

The incident follows on from an IT problem that delayed the travels of thousands of international passengers across Australia’s international airports last month
