Venture Far ceases operations, goes into liquidation

Venture Far, previously Venture Holidays, has gone into liquidation after 39 years in the industry.

In a statement, the company cited the “costs and challenges” of running the business as the reason for ceasing operations.

“The costs and challenges of being a boutique wholesaler, operating in a highly price driven, low margin industry have proven to be too large to overcome,” the statement read.

The company underwent major changes in 2017 including a total rebrand to try and keep afloat, but have said that despite seeing some improvements, it was not enough.

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has also released a statement to confirm the termination of the company’s ATAS accreditation.

The circumstances of existing bookings are yet to be confirmed, according to AFTA, however, any agents who have bookings with Adventure Far who are participants of the AFTA Chargeback Scheme may be eligible to make a claim.

The association also advises consumers and travel agents who have been impacted to invoke a chargeback if payments were made by credit card.

“They should also contact local Police to commence criminal charges against the principles, where payments and deposits had been paid for future travel that will now not be able to be taken,” AFTA said in the statement.

Venture Far is asking any agents with queries regarding bookings to contact 1300 303 343 and select option 1.

The Liquidators have maintained some reservations staff to assist with your queries. Sales, Marketing and Product areas have ceased immediately.
