Aussie travellers on the hunt for EOFY deals

Aussie travellers on the hunt for EOFY deals

Ah, end of financial year. Or as we like to call it: spend-every-cent-of-your-tax-return-before-you-get-it-on-EOFY-sales-time.

Or SECYTRBYGIOFST.

… Maybe we should just stick to EOFY?

Anyway, it’s SALE TIME people! Aussie consumers are out in force, hunting for discounted cars, clothing, furniture, white goods and 90’s hip-hop memorabilia. Or maybe that’s just us again?

This year it seems a number of travel brands are also jumping on the bandwagon to keep up with the buying frenzy.

New Finder.com.au research shows 11 per cent of Aussies – equivalent to 2.1 million people – are on the lookout for holidays in the June sales.

Gen Z (18 – 23) are the most likely to book a holiday with 18 per cent keeping an eye on travel deals. This is closely followed by Gen Y at 15 per cent.

Finder’s money expert Bessie Hassan said as long as Aussies are open-minded about where they want to go and flexible with dates they may be able to score some huge deals.

“The best discounts aren’t usually available on public holiday weekends or during school breaks. If you can be flexible with your departure dates, then that’s how you’ll save,” she said.

“While you might like to start your holiday on a Friday or Saturday, booking flights mid-week usually offer better value. Likewise, avoid mid-morning departures and straight after the working day.”

“Likewise, if you’re not too picky about where you stay or which airline you fly, you could score a bargain. If you’re cash-strapped, don’t despair, deals often bleed into July.”

To give you a head-start, Finder has round up the top deals here.
