Aussie Airports nowhere to be seen in new airport rankings

Aussie Airports nowhere to be seen in new airport rankings

Have you ever wondered what airports are the best and worst in the world? Well we’ve got the answers for you, right here.

AirHelp Score has compared every airport in the whole damn world using three different criteria: quality of service, on-time performance and passenger experience.

Lets break it down.

The quality of service rating factors in a ton of metrics and details to give an accurate measure of an airport’s quality of service, from check-in, facilities, airport terminals, comfort and security.

Airports that scored a solid 10/10 in this category were Singapore Changi Airport, Munich International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport. So you know where to go the best airport service around – and two of them happen to be big layover destinations!

On-time performance is exactly that – how often planes depart on time or are delayed. AirHelp pulled the on-time departure stats for flights departing from the last season, to determine just how likely they are to depart on time.

No airport scored a perfect 10 in this category, but Athens International Airport came out on top, with Birmingham Airport and Bristol Airport following closely behind. Perth Airport was also rated fifth best! But we all know you can forget about Sydney and Melbourne for on-time departures, so is that really a surprise?

Passenger experience takes into account the sentiment travellers express about certain airports on social media – whether that’s a five-star review or a hateful rant.

Brazil’s Sao Paulo Airport won out in this category, scoring an almost-perfect 9.4/10. They were followed closely by Nairobi International Airport, Moscow International Airport and Jakarta Airport.

And the highest performing airports overall?

Well, none in Australia. Aussie airports where nowhere to be seen in the top 50 scoring airports – and after that we just stopped looking, TBH.

The top three airports worldwide are Qatar’s Hamad International Airport, Athens International Airport and Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

And the worst? Kuwait Airport, London Standsted Airport, Lyon–Saint-Exupéry Airport, Paris Orly Airport, Stockholm Bromma Airport and Manchester Airport (GB) all scored below six – making them the worst-ranked airports in the world.
