AVPartners appoints Matt Taylor as Partner at new venue The Westin Perth
Leading audiovisual company AVPartners has appointed Matt Taylor as Partner at The Westin Perth. Matt brings over 19 years of experience delivering world-class integrated event experiences using state-of-the-art audiovisual technology to his new role.
Starting in the audiovisual industry as a technician in 1999, when 35mm slide projectors and VHS tapes were still used, Matt has been able to explore every aspect of the industry. He quickly moved up the ranks and joined AVPartners in 2009, bringing an impressive amount of passion and dedication to his work that has never faltered. His most recent role was Partner at AVPartners’ venue Crown Perth.
This role recognises the commitment that AVPartners has to promoting from within and rewarding their hardworking and creative talent. AVPartners was successfully awarded the audiovisual contract at The Westin Perth in early 2018. AVPartners provides AV support for conferences and events at the location and professional technical assistance for delegates.
Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort appoints Guven Uyanik as Executive Chef
The Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort has appointed Guven Uyanik as executive chef, effective immediately. Uyanik will report to the resort’s general manager, Mr Cyrille Carmona.
Prior to joining Outrigger, Chef Uyanik, a dual citizen of Turkey and Canada, was executive sous chef at the luxury The Murray, Hong Kong. Has also been a culinary consultant for the pre-opening of Scot’s Concepts Singapore; executive chef at Hong Kong Parkview; group head chef at Kee Club, Hong Kong and Shanghai; executive sous chef at West Restaurant (Top Table Group) in Vancouver; and head chef at the Newport Room at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel in Bermuda.
Along the way, Chef Uyanik has also been a junior sous chef and demi chef de partie at Gordon Ramsey’s and Claridge’s, both in Mayfair, London.
Uyanik has a City & Guilds diploma in food preparation and culinary art from the UK. He and his wife have a four-year-old son. The chef’s hobbies include photography, fishing and trying new ethnic cuisines.
Luxperience announces team structure enhancements
Luxperience 2018 is fast approaching and to ensure it surpasses its already high standards Diversified Communications, owner of Luxperience, is pleased to announce two key staff appointments. Claire-Ann Leo is heading up marketing, and Tea Kezic is leading the sales team.
Leo has just joined Luxperience from the UK and brings with her an extensive international events background including most recently four years with Easyfairs UK and Global. Her aim for Luxperience is to highlight the numerous changes and improvements to the event such as the new concierge-style service, the revitalised networking events and the Education Program.
Award-winning Kezic brings an impressive background in event management and client relations to Luxperience. For the last seven years Kezic has been working at management level with Reed Exhibitions. Her focus for Luxperience is to ensure the benchmark of high-end suppliers and service providers meet the standards set by the globe’s elite travel organisers during the pre-scheduled appointments.
Langham Hospitality Group appoints Stefan Leser
Langham Hospitality Group today announced the appointment of Stefan Leser as Chief Executive Officer. Based in Hong Kong, he will oversee all aspects of the group’s global portfolio of hotels, resorts and residences, and will be providing strategic guidance to achieve the company’s vision, implementing organizational processes for all divisions, and leading the global expansion drive.
Leser has nearly 30 years of experience in the travel and hospitality industries, most recently at Jumeirah International where he was the group chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors. At the Dubai-based company, Leser was responsible for several significant milestone projects, such as the inauguration of The Terrace at Burj Al Arab and the completion and launch of Jumeirah Al Naseem, the group’s luxury hotel overlooking the Arabian Gulf.
Prior to joining Jumeirah, Leser held senior roles for more than a decade at Kuoni Travel Holding Ltd., the leading Swiss travel services provider. As a member of Kuoni’s executive board and executive vice president of the outbound and specialists division, Leser directed the company’s travel businesses, covering the Nordics, United Kingdom, Benelux, India, China, Hong Kong, and Switzerland. He was also responsible for all businesses specializing in inbound destination management which had a purview of US$3 billion in revenues and 8,000 employees. Leser has also spent six years working in the information technology industry with Swissair and EDS Corporation.
New Communications appointment for Scenic
Scenic has today announced the appointment of Mandy Dwyer as Manager PR, Communications and Editorial based in the Sydney office.
The newly created role sits within the marketing team and will take on responsibility for all media and public relations including editorial development for both the Scenic and Evergreen brands.
