What city was crowned world’s best?

The folks over at Time Out know a thing or two about cities.

Not only do they write about them daily, they also take the time out – get it? – to ask readers to vote for their favourite city, and the results will only surprise you if you didn’t see last year’s survey.

Because the winner for a second year running is…

Chicago!

For the second time in a row, Chicago was ranked the best city for having it all in the magazine’s ‘City Life Index’.

Time Out surveyed 15,000 people in 32 cities—from Austin to Hong Kong to Tel Aviv—and asked in-depth questions about sex, dining, neighbourhoods, affordability, happiness and so much more.

Each city was then scored across those facets to reveal the winner. It only makes sense that Chicago took the No. 1 spot.

Speaking about the results, a Time Out spokesperson said: “Our Midwestern city beat out dozens of other metro areas as the best place to eat and drink in the world.”

“With new restaurants opening what feels like every day, it didn’t surprise us to hear that the average Chicagoan eats out almost once a week.”

Though, they were quick to congratulate the runner-up cities, one of which included Melbourne, also known as ‘Sydney without the beaches’.

“Before our heads get too big, it’s worth mentioning that we’re in great company. Here’s a look at the top 10 cities in the world, all of which would make excellent vacation destinations in 2018—after all, 57 percent of you take a fun trip once every couple of months.”

Ok, we’re a little bitter Sydney didn’t cut it, but still super stoked Melbourne came in fourth.
