Midweek Interview with Wendy Wu Tours’ Sarah Arane

Midweek Interview with Wendy Wu Tours’ Sarah Arane

This week we chat with the lovely Sarah Arane, the new Business Development Manager at Wendy Wu Tours Australia.

The challenge for the industry is…

To keep up with demand. I think travellers these days are getting more and more adventurous, which means we need to find more-off-the-beaten-track places and immersive experiences to meet that demand.

The things I like about my job…

I get to spend all day going out and making friends with fellow travel lovers. Whats not to like?

And the frustrations are …

You need to be a jack of all trades, and a master multitasker all at the same time!

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

A Marine Conservation Biologist- seriously!

Favourite airline?

At the moment, Qantas, but a big fan of Qatar as well!

My proudest moment was…

Becoming a finalist for the NTIA Rookie BDM of the Year in 2015.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

I got my first tattoo a few years ago- and hid it from my parents for two years.

I try to relax by…

Getting outside- hiking, swimming, exploring.

The last time I feared for my life was…

In a taxi in Athens with one of the craziest cabbies I’ve ever met!

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Bicycles.

I really wish I had…

A nice little country house with a huge backyard so I can rescue more puppies.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

“Stop brushing off compliments, you earned it. Just say thanks”.

I don’t understand why people…

Aren’t just nice to each other. And abuse animals!

My greatest weakness is…

Dogs.

And my greatest strength is…

Once I set my mind to something, good luck stopping me!

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Put a deposit down on a house, and throw a really big, impressive, party.

If I was prime minister I would…

Invest in better support programs for the homeless, and implement a much more ambitious climate change program. A good first home owners grant would be nice too!

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a…

An assistant to Ellen DeGeneres. She seems like such an amazing person and it would be an honour to work for her.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

Mongolia- it’s a country with a little bit of everything. the history and culture seems like something I could really immerse myself in.

My favourite holiday was…

So far- South East Asia. I spent some time solo in Singapore before meeting a group of friends for a 30th birthday cruise through Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.

Three weeks of fun with friends, some fantastic signtseeing and culture, made for memories I’ll never forget.
