Malindo Air leaves 60+ people’s luggage in Bali

Kota Kinabalu Sabah Malaysia - Feb 22, 2016 : Malindo aircraft Boeing 737-800 with registration no 9M-LNS pictured on Feb 22, 2016.The aircraft own by Malaysian conglomerate Lion Group is based in Kuala Lumpur.

Sixty-odd passengers touched down in Brisbane from Bali on a Malindo Air flight on Sunday, to discover the airline had left their luggage behind.

The major error occurred after a two hour delay that left passengers about to board the Boeing 737 from Denapasar to Brisbane, waiting on the tarmac until “weight discrepancies” were resolved, per news.com.au.

Turns out, that was just the start of the disaster flight.

When the Malindo Flight touched down in Brisbane on Sunday night, dozens of passengers were without their luggage.

Sixty-three passengers discovered their luggage was missing when the carousel at Brisbane’s International airport, came to an abrupt stop after just 10 people collected their bags. Instead of the carousel shortly resuming, the overhead advised all the other passengers to see the baggage services, according to news.

Newlyweds Ashlee Perry and Amit Chacko, who were returning from their wedding ceremony in Bali, told Nine News that they were lucky to have taken her wedding dress as carry-on.

“They tried to make my wife, Ashlee check in her wedding dress back in Indonesia too. Luckily she refused,” Chacko said.

Exhausted after  lengthy delays in Denpasar, the couple were furious with the Malindo Air’s attempt to resolve the lost luggage issue.

“Then we land and this happens with bags with no communication to us or anyone! More waiting and frustration!” Ashlee told Nine News.

“By this time I’d had no sleep and food was disgusting. And we all just see the pilots and staff leaving with theirs bags ok!”

Per news.com.au, Malindo Air have not confirmed if the luggage was removed from the flight due to the weight discrepancies, or if it was even loaded on to the aircraft at all.

The airline have been operating direct flights from Brisbane to Denpasar since April this year.
