According to the business, it is built around insight and a deep understanding of travel, safety and insurance, helping travellers navigate the risk and keeping them out of trouble. SureSave provides cover for more than 300,000 travellers each year.

Travel Weekly caught up with SureSave to chat about their sponsorship of Women in Travel.

  • What does the Women in Travel event mean to you?

Change doesn’t always come about easily – but often, it starts with a conversation. For us at SureSave, Women in Travel represents two things. The first is the opportunity to come together as an industry to recognise the achievements of women in travel, creating a dialogue around equal opportunity in the workplace. The second is the chance to grow, and contribute to, the incredible network of support and comradeship within our industry. sure-save_rgb

  • Why did SureSave sponsor the event?

We are proud to belong to an industry that both empowers women and encourages professional growth among its employees equally, and we are delighted to support an event that celebrates this.

  • This is the inaugural Women in Travel Awards in Australia. Why do you think this is an important event the travel industry should embrace?

Travel is all about inspiring and being inspired, and we believe this event captures this perfectly. We talk about the glass ceiling preventing women from reaching their full potential at work – but often the glass ceiling is reinforced by us when we lack confidence in ourselves. This event is a perfect opportunity to inspire women in our industry to back themselves and encourage each other, giving them confidence to pursue their career goals.

  • What are you looking forward to most about the event?

This event should be a fun and vibrant night in the company of some amazing women. We have sponsored the exciting category ‘Rising Star of the year,’ which we believe will unveil some of the future trailblazers of our industry.

  • What’s the most important thing to focus on when it comes to women’s role in the travel industry?

As an individual, you learn a lot about yourself travelling the world – what you can overcome, and what you can achieve. By putting yourself out there, you’re forced out of your comfort zone, but you open yourself up to endless possibilities and incredible personal growth. For women in travel, this is a lesson worth bringing home – all you need is to have the confidence to put yourself out there, and chances are you’ll] achieve wonderful things.

As an industry built around travel, it is our responsibility to uphold the teachings of our trade, and provide an environment in which these lessons can thrive – for all its employees equally. This means continuing to focus on flexibility in the workplace, and providing support and initiatives for up-and-comers within the industry.

The Women in Travel Awards will be presented at a gala cocktail function on 17 November in Sydney – reserve your seat now with Earlybird rates on offer – last chance for tickets!
