Tangalooma Island Resort on Moreton Island is a paradise on the doorstep of Queensland’s South East Coast.

Opened 36 years ago, the resort is just a 75-minute catamaran cruise from Brisbane, however feels like a world away from the hustle bustle of city life. Protected and treasured, this is nature’s theme park where amazing natural encounters are just part of the everyday experience.

The resort has something for everyone ranging from families, couples and honeymooners to backpackers and solo travellers and offers guests a unique adventure, educational or nature based experience.

Stay

The resort has a great range of accommodation options meeting all budgets. From deluxe hotel rooms, hotel rooms, units and suites, to beachfront villas, luxury apartments and holiday houses, there is an option to fit any travellers’ needs.

There are also different packages on offer from a day trip to day trips that include tours and then of course weekend breaks and longer stays.

Do as much or as little as you like, with a great variety of tours including desert safari tours and sand tobogganing, quad bikes, whale watching, segway tours, helicopter joy flights to the water sports of scuba, snorkelling, fishing, paddle boarding, banana boat hire, and kayak hire to name a few.

For those who prefer to explore themselves, a short walk along the beach will take you to the shipwrecks, that can be seen from the shore.

The resort itself offers free activities such as tennis, squash, table tennis, basketball, badminton, soccer, beach volleyball, cricket, boules, swimming pools and of course beach swimming.

Probably a main draw card for Tangalooma Island Resort is the access to the wildlife in their natural environment. You can feed the pelicans, kookaburras, fish and of course the very popular feeding of the wild dolphins.

Only three places in Australia offer such an experience. The program started in 1992 and they currently have around 12 dolphins visit each evening on their own accord. The interactive experience includes educational talks by onsite marine biologists. To learn more about the wild dolphins, there is a dedicated marine education and conservation centre, encouraging visitors to be aware and help keep the waters safe and clean of rubbish.

Eat

Just like the accommodation and activities offering, the places to eat at Tangalooma Island Resort offer something to suit all tastes. Enjoy five food and beverage dining options, from breakfast-buffet style to beachfront dining. Guests who prefer to self-cater can camp themself beside one of the six BBQ facilities and take in the beauty of the bay in the most casual environment. All supplies can be purchased from the Resort Shop located underneath the Deep Blue Apartments.

News and Updates

Tangalooma Island Resort is in the process of renovating so will have a new restaurant, bar and function centre. Their focus has been on improving the food from recent feedback so they have acted on this and have a new F&B manager who is turning things around.

The resort has an exclusive agreement with P&O and Carnival Cruises, welcoming guests to visit the island as a day trip.
