Midweek Interview with Jarrod Pask, GM, Cruiseabout

We chat with Jarrod Pask, Cruiseabout General Manager about the cruise industry, football and Fiji at the launch of their innovative VR Cruisein360.

The challenge for the industry is… infrastructure inhibiting cruise capacity.

The thing I like about my job is… leading a great bunch of people in such an exciting sector of the travel industry!

And the frustrations are…  not enough time in the day to deliver all the new innovations we want to deliver to our customers.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… playing football for the Arsenal (in my dreams!)

Favourite airline?  Any airline that gets me home on time.

My proudest moment was… becoming a father.  My two boys keep me very busy at home.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… swear at my mum when I was a kid.  I did it once and NEVER again!

I try to relax by… reading the weekend paper over a long black or two.

The last time I feared for my life was… catching a private taxi in KUL from the airport. The price for bartering down $10 was going off the highway and driving down the dodgiest, darkest suburban roads I have ever been on in Asia.  As the taxi pulled over on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere we starting texting home the number plate details just in case we didn’t make it out alive!

If I can, I always try to avoid… flying in or out of BNE domestic airport.  Coolangatta airport is so much better as a GC boy.

I really wish I had… a nice boat to cruise around in.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… never ask your people to do something you wouldn’t be willing to do yourself.

I don’t understand why people… push in any line up – so rude!

My greatest weakness is… impatience.

And my greatest strength is… Determination and resilience.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling) I would… pay off my house and invest the rest.

If I was prime minister I would…  have dinner with key world leaders to pick their brains for the best ideas.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a… an astronaut.  A day in space would be pretty cool.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… the Greek islands

My favourite holiday was… Vomo Island in Fiji – you can’t beat it.
