Enquiries spike for Qantas Holidays as Creative closes
By admin

Qantas Holidays and Viva! Holidays have reported a “massive surge” in incoming enquiries following the announcement Creative Holidays will close at the end of the year.

Qantas Holidays managing director Peter Egglestone said the call centre team had seen a 50% spike in calls as a result of the news which broke yesterday.

“We took more than 1600 calls yesterday from existing and new customers which is a 50% surge on our usual volumes and our call centre team did an incredible job to answer those calls within an average timeframe of 3 minutes,” he said.

Egglestone anticipated the increased call levels would continue following the disruption in the market. Although he said the team as so far “risen to the challenge”, he confirmed the company is “moving quickly” to add resources to the team.

“Creative Holidays has been a formidable competitor for over 30 years and we are very sorry to hear of the decision to close the business,” he said.

“Their presence has shaped the market and provided the continuing imperative for the ongoing evolution of the sector and our business.”

Creative, part of The Travel Corporation, advised employees on Monday afternoon of its imminent closure and restructure. The move followed an extensive analysis and rigorous review of the business model, the company said. It is not under administration as incorrectly reported by Travel Weekly 8 Dec 2015.
