SA attracting more interstate visitors

SA attracting more interstate visitors

An increasing number of interstate visitors are spending more time in South Australia, boosting the state’s coffers, Tourism Minister Leon Bignell says.

In the 12 months to March this year South Australia attracted 5.6 million domestic overnight visitors, up 6.5 per cent on the year before and ahead of the national growth of 6.1 per cent.

This visitor economy is now worth $4.6 billion a year to SA with almost half of that money spent in regional areas.

“The state government understands the importance of the tourism industry to our economy. In the recent state budget an additional $6 million was allocated over two years for marketing campaigns to promote SA to the Australian market,” Mr Bignell said on Wednesday.
