Lizard Island makes a comeback

Lizard Island makes a comeback

Lizard Island is gearing up to welcome back guests as of Friday June 5.

Delaware North, owner of Lizard Island, has announced that following the heavy blow dealt by Cyclone Ita in 2014 and Cyclone Nathan in March this year, the island has been rebuilt and refurbished, and is ready to reopen its doors.

From June 5, the majority of the property will be accessible to guests, including the main Lodge Lounge and Reception, the new Salt Water Restaurant, Driftwood Bar and the Wine Cellar.

Essentia Day Spa, the Island Retail Boutique, on-site gym, swimming pool and marine and diving activities are also among the many facilities returning guests can expect.

Delaware North resorts Australia’s executive director Greg Magi said he thinks guests will fall in love with the new look Lizard Island.

“We appreciate the patience and support we’ve received during the rebuild of Lizard Island,” he said.

“We’re on track to have the entire resort reopened in mid-August, and until then we’ll be offering 25% off the retail rates.”

During this time ongoing building works will be limited to daylight hours, with low noise levels expected during breakfast and lunch, in the lead up to the resort’s full re-opening.

All rooms and suites have been fully refurbished with interiors by Aussie interior design team Hecker Guthrie and architects Owen and Vokes and Peters.

“We received great feedback after releasing the first look of our Anchor Bay suites earlier this year and I have no doubt that we’ll further delight our guests as we continue to unveil more of the Island,” Magi added.
