Aussie claims rape by Ritz-Carlton employee

Aussie claims rape by Ritz-Carlton employee
By admin

An Australian staying at Kuala Lumpur’s five-star Ritz-Carlton hotel has claimed she was raped by one of its employees.

The 27-year old victim from Sydney alleges a staff member broke into her room while she was asleep and woke up at about 5am to find the man assaulting her, the West Australian paper reports.

The newspaper cites the attacker as hotel employee Roaquin Radzmund, which security cameras showed as entering and leaving the victim’s room on the night of the alleged assault in October.

According to the report, it is believed he accessed the hotel’s reception desk to obtain a copy of the electronic key card, using it to allegedly access the room. The woman had failed to deadlock the door.

Radzmund has since appeared in a Kuala Lumpur court charged with rape, and will remain in custody to reappear in court next month.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) said the victim sought consular assistance after the attack, the paper confirmed, but is understood to have not received any offer of compensation from the luxury-hotel chain.

The latest case comes after the Ritz-Carlton group faces another sexual assault case in the USA involving a guest and a male employee working at a day spa.
