Bangkok Airways (PG) and Garuda Indonesia (GA) have announced the commencement of their two-way codeshare agreement on Bangkok Airways’ selected flights in Thailand.

The codeshare routes are already available for sale, with operations effective from December 15.

The new partnership enables passengers of Garuda an easier transit in Bangkok to connect to other Thailand destinations such as Phuket, Udon Thani, Krabi and Chiang Mai.

Bankgkok Airways’ senior vice president of network management Peter Wiesner said the codeshare brings multiple benefits to customers.

“The codeshare agreement allows passengers to benefit from the networks of both airlines to travel between Thailand and Indonesia with ideal connectivity and increase travel flexibility,” he said.

Garuda Indonesia’s EVP sales and marketing Erik Meijer also commented on the announcement, saying it would extend its network even further throughout Southeast Asia.

“Thailand is an important market for Indonesia and through this partnership we can offer more travel options for the increasing number of passengers between the two countries.

“At the same time, the agreement is expected to boost trade and tourism activities by making Indonesia much more accessible for Thai visitors.”
