Bali and Singapore take top spot for Lebaran
By admin

For the second year in a row, Bali and Singapore have led the way as most popular destinations for flight searches for Indonesian Lebaran holiday travel in 2014.

While the majority of the flight clicks were for domestic destinations, with Bali in top spot, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur recorded second and third place overall on Indonesia’s favourite travel comparison site.

Malaysia, Japan and the Netherlands experienced the largest gains in terms of travel intent, with flight searches in this category jumping by 40%, 23% and 63% respectively.

Wego Indonesia’s managing director Graham Hills said the ratio of domestic and international flight searches tended to remain consistent each year.

“This could be more reflective of tradition as Lebaran is the key time for Indonesians to visit with family; which is dominated by land transport options such as train, bus and private vehicles,” Hills said.

Lion Air regained its position as one of the top airlines domestically, after slipping dramatically in 2014 by 59%, while AirAsia regained its top position over both Garuda and Malaysia Airlines.

“Mobile searches contributed strongly to Lebaran travel planning this year,” Hills continued.

“Wego’s travel app for iOS registered as the number one travel app in the country in the iTunes store a few months prior to Lebaran, and in the 30 days leading up to the holiday, mobile visits showed an impressive 40 per cent increase over previous years.”
