P&O Pacific has partnered with Save the Children Vanuatu to provide a new health facility on the remote Vanuatu island of Aneityum.

This is P&O Pacific Partnerships biggest project to date, which will see $270,000 put towards replacing a pre-1970s health facility on Aneityum.

The new dispensary will include a consultancy room, treatment room, in-patient room, delivery room for maternity services, a waiting area as well as pharmaceutical and equipment storage.

Around $400,000 has already been raised through the Pacific partnership, which has seen the completion of three projects already – two kindergartens and an aid post.

 

Air New Zealand is celebrating 75 years of operation in 2015, with a six month retrospective exhibition at the country’s national museum Te Papa.

“Our airline has been an integral part of the fabric of New Zealand and we have enjoyed the immense support of New Zealanders for almost 75 years. The exhibition, which will be free to attend, will give the public a real insight into the history of the airline, covering both the highs and the lows we’ve experienced in that time,” said Air New Zealand chief executive officer Christopher Luxon.

The exhibition will open this year in mid-December.

 

Carlson Wagonlit Travel has announced that it will be integrating travel gamification into its award winning mobile app, CWT To Go.

This app update will allow travellers to keep track of their position on company’s gamification leader board for companies that use a points-earned reward system.

This is set to assist travellers in making better travel decisions that support travel policy as well as help save money.  

 

Creative Holidays is encouraging Australians to get behind the Wallabies at the 2015 Rugby World Cup in London with a new package deal.

The package includes three nights at the 4-star serviced apartment Think Earl Court and return airport transfer by private vehicle priced from $869 per person, twin share, with the offer available until September 30, 2014.  

 

Don Beattie from Mobile Travel Agents has been appointed to the Belmond Travel Agency Advisory Board.

Mr Beattie will join the board for an initial two-year term and will join his fellow board members in mid-September when he attends the next sitting in Rangoon, Myanmar.

“Gaining this recognition from such an internationally renowned organisation is firm acknowledgement of the respect and esteem with which MTA is held both within the Australia travel industry and overseas” said Beattie.

 

Daydream Island Resort and Spa has appointed Scott Wilkinson as the new chief executive officer, replacing current CEO Phil Casey.

Wilkinson joins Daydream from TFE Hotel Group where he was general manager of the Five Star Rendezvous Grand Hotel Adelaide. His managerial experience also extends to hotel groups such as Hyatt Regency, Peppers Retreats Resorts and Hotels, and Rydges Hotels and Resorts. 

 

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia’s executive partner ranks have expanded to include Creative Cruising, Seven Oceans Cruising and Great Southern Rail.

 

Jet Airways and Etihad Airways have outlined plans to reinforce their long-term commitment to the growth of India’s economy and aviation industry.

The plans include a major new turnaround strategy for Jet Airways to return to profitability in three years, as well as a continuation of advantages for customers, such as the frequent flyer programs.

 

US Travel Association has announced that New Orleans will be the venue for International Pow Wow (IPW) 2016, marking the first time the travel industry event has returned to Crescent City since 2002.

IPW is the largest travel trade show in North America, and showcases US destinations, attractions and businesses to international travel professionals.

The event has been calculated to bring nearly one million extra international visitors and $1.7 billion in international tourism to recent host cities, as well as significantly boosting US tourism revenue overall. 

 

Rail Europe’s GSAs have released their lowest ever first class fares on selected routes between France, Germany and Belgium.

The GSAs, including Rail Plus, Rail Tickets, CIT Holidays and Infinity Rail in Australia, and Rail Plus and Go Holidays in New Zealand, will pass on these savings from the end of August 2014, with travel dates spanning from August 16 to November 30 2014.
