The SS Yongala Wreck – Queensland, Australia

The S.S.Yongala sank in a cyclone in 1911 and remained undiscovered for almost 50 years. The 109 metre long wreck still lies 12 nautical miles off the coast of Cape Bowling Green in the Great Barrier Reef marine park and has become known as one of the world’s top wreck dives.

Giant Queensland gropers hang beneath the ships stern with a wide array of marine life surrounding the ship from barracuda to turtles, sea snakes, eagle rays as well as coral structures.

Dive packages at the renowned wreck start from $259, for more information visit www.yongaladive.com.au

Barracuda Point – Sipadan Islands, Malaysia

Find yourself immersed in a school of hundreds or even thousands of blacktail barracuda at this north coast site, one of the most treasured dive spots in Malaysia.

While the site is clearly renown for barracuda spotting – hence its name – there is more species to find at this dive site with reef and hammerhead sharks regularly spotted on dives and a variety of hard and soft corals filled with fish of all assortments.

Blue Corner Wall – Palau, Micronesia

With high visibility (over 30 metres) this dive site has a concentrated amount of marine life with a shallow coral shelf that projects out into the ocean and has vertical walls on both sides.

The popular dive site is known for its rich marine life, large pelagic species and resident grey reef and whitetip reef sharks.

March and April are the best time to spot sharks, with fewer around in May, October and November.

Great Blue Hole – Belize

It appears as a big blue sinkhole in the ocean from birds eye view, this very deep and wide hole is outlined by coral reef and inhabited by sharks.

As you dive down through the warm reef waters and into the blue hole you enter a transition from salt to fresh water at about 15m.

Entrance yourself with the enormous tuna and other sea life that is abundantly present before you descend another 25 metres to explore the ancient caverns in the depths of the ocean.
