TRENZ back at Rotorua in 2015
By admin

New Zealand trade show TRENZ will return to Rotorua in 2015, seven years after the North Island city last hosted the event.

NZ Prime Minister John Key made the announcement during an address in Auckland this morning.

The bid was put together by Explore Central North Island, a collective body comprising eight regions.

It will take place between May 17 and 20 at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre.

Tourism New Zealand chief executive Kevin Bowler said it will see TRENZ return to “birthplace of tourism in New Zealand”.

“It’s worth remembering that the Department of Tourist and Health Resorts [was] established there in 1901,” he said. “Today the region remains intrinsically linked to our unique tourism offering.”

Rotorua Mayor Steve Chadwick said: “Having TRENZ hosted in Rotorua really adds value to our vision of growing tourism and seeking economic development opportunities through spa development and attracting major events for the region.”
