The former managing director of Harvey World Travel, David Rivers, has retired fom his position as head of retail transition at Helloworld.

The company announced his retirement on Friday.

Helloworld chief executive Rob Gurney paid tribute to Rivers’ contribution over the years, saying his support and dedication to franchisees and staff have been “immensely valued” by the Group.

"David's leadership of the Harvey World Travel brand and franchisees has been exemplary. The wellbeing of the franchisees is always uppermost in David's mind and he has always displayed a strong passion for the protection and promotion of the network," he said.

"I wish David all the best in his retirement and I hope he and his family enjoy their new life in Victoria."

Almost 14 years have passed since Rivers joined HWT as franchise development manager. He then became company secretary for the HWT Group before taking on the role of general manager of Harvey World Insurance Services which subsequently expanded to cover all Stella retail networks.

In 2009, he was appointed HWT managing director – a position he held until the switch from Jetset Travelworld Group to Helloworld Limited last year. In his most recent role as head of retail transition, he was responsible for those franchisees who decided against moving to the new Helloworld concept.
