Hong Kong actor and "cantopop" singer Ekin Cheng has joined forces with Tourism Australia to showcase Cairns and Sydney to a Chinese audience through a new television travel series.

Cheng will be joined by fellow celebrities Andy Chan Siu Chin, Jacqueline Wong and Lai Yi Wong in filming the new series "Tailor Made Tours" which will be broadcast across Asia to an estimated audience of 30 million viewers.

Enlisting the support of popular Asian celebrities will help inspire more visitors from across the region to visit Australia, according to TA managing director Andrew McEvoy.

"This series will provide viewers with a tantalising glimpse of some amazing attractions available to Chinese visitors in Cairns and Sydney including sky diving over Cairns, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, surfing on Bondi Beach and taking in the majestic Blue Mountains at Wolgan Valley Resort," he said.

McEvoy also used the ocassion to welcome Cheng to the Friends of Australian advocacy program which includes other Asian advocates such as Show Lo and Rainie Yang, boy bad Grasshopper, chef Wong Wing Chee and couple Xia Yu and Yuan Quan.
