TripAdvisor has released the 2017 Hotel Pricing Report, mapping out when to visit popular destinations and get the best bang for your buck.

Every travel enthusiast keeps a memo of bucket list destinations they plan on visiting, but do they know when is the best time to go? Most travellers work hard to put aside savings for a trip of a lifetime, so it is important to know when is the right time to invest those pennies.

TripAdvisor’s Hotel Pricing Report reveals the global accomodation trends based on the site’s hotel shopping data. Travellers will know of the destinations that offer great year-over-year accomodation value, and which months offer affordable hotel rates in popular destinations worldwide.

The report highlighted that 2017 is a great time for Australian travellers to shop the Philippines, Indonesia and the United Kingdom, where hotel prices are down, up to 15 per cent, compared to 2016.

“Our data highlights the best value destinations that they can book looking at the lowest average hotel prices and weather, including some of the Aussie all-time favourites such as the United Kingdom in May and August or Indonesia in November,” TripAdvisor spokesperson, Grant Colquhoun, said.

Here are Monthly Destination Guides on how Maximise your Dollars 

  • Philippines: Travellers can find the best prices on hotels in the Philippines from December through February, with nightly rates averaging as low as $232.
  • Indonesia: While the weather is always warm, hotel rates in Indonesia are coolest during the months of January ($229), February ($230) and November ($181).
  • U.K.: Though the least expensive hotels in the U.K. were in January ($270) and February ($288), Australian travellers can also enjoy affordable rates and the milder temperatures in May ($330), August ($337) and October ($326).
  • Vietnam: The least expensive hotel rates in Vietnam were in November ($177), however, travellers can enjoy low prices and local festivals between January ($200) and March ($203).
  • Fiji: The wet season between January ($385) and April ($191) are the least expensive months to book a hotel in Fiji. However, travellers will find that May ($545) and October ($577) offer the best combination of good weather and low rates.
  • France: While the most affordable month to stay in a hotel in France was in January ($302), April ($310) and May ($340) are the best months to visit, with an optimal combination of price and temperature.
  • Malaysia: With tropical temperatures all year around, travellers willing to brave the humidity can find the least expensive hotels in January through March, with nightly rates from as low as $193.
  • Thailand: Hotel prices take a dip during Thailand’s shoulder season in April ($243), May ($217), and June ($246).
  • Italy: Travellers can enjoy the largest hotel savings in Italy during the winter months, but will want to travel during April ($342), October ($370), or November ($266) for the best mix of price and weather.
  • Singapore: Travellers can seek out the lowest hotel prices in Singapore between January and March, at an average of $343 per night or less.
