Travellers Choice brings new member to the team

Travellers Choice has appointed Kim Tomlinson as Business Development Manager for Queensland and Northern New South Wales, effective July 13  2015.

Tomlinson brings to his new role more than 30 years’ travel industry experience, having previously held senior roles with Qantas, Travelscene American Express and Emirates, where he was most recently regional manager Queensland.

Based in Brisbane, Tomlinson is now responsible for supporting the local sales and marketing activities of Travellers Choice members across Queensland and Northern NSW, while also sustaining the ongoing growth of the national retail group’s network and liaising closely with preferred suppliers.

Chief executive Christian Hunter says Travellers Choice has gained a valuable asset.

“Kim is a well-known and respected professional who possesses an extraordinary understanding of our industry and a proven ability to build strong and enduring relationships,” Hunter said.

“He will fit seamlessly into the Travellers Choice network, and offer our members just the kind of knowledge and support they need to continue to grow their businesses.”

Tomlinson replaces Simon Lang, who is retiring this month after 50 years in the Australian travel industry, including 13 years as Travellers Choice’s Business Development Manager for Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Since entering the travel industry in 1965, Lang has worked for just three companies: P&O Orient Lines, Ansett and Travellers Choice.

He joined Travellers Choice in 2001 tasked with the challenge of expanding the group’s network into the Sunshine State.

“Thanks to Simon’s efforts more than 40 Travellers Choice member shareholders now call Queensland home, with Simon’s flock stretching from Maclean in NSW to the Cape York Peninsula,” says Hunter. “On behalf of all of our members I would like to thank him for his passion and dedication, both of which are legendary.”
