Gate 7 announces new appointments

Travel and tourism marketing agency Gate 7 has seen substantial staff and client growth this year including two recent major hires and the return of clients, along with a new office.

Vanessa Fletcher has returned to Gate 7 and the travel and tourism sector with a newly designed role, joining Gate 7 as head of strategy. Fletcher is welcomed back after a stint at Nano Digital Home Loans, where she was chief marketing officer.

In her head of strategy role, Fletcher will work very closely with Gate 7’s two industry expert directors – Tori Goddard (director of PR and content) and Laura Stephenson (director tourism development & events) along with account teams to shape aligned programs of work that add great value to clients.

Vanessa Fletcher said: “I am thrilled to be back with the Gate 7 family. The momentum and collaboration throughout the travel industry makes it an exciting place to be, and I look forward to achieving great things with and for our clients and partners.”

After two years as general manager for entertainment precinct Club Menangle, Laura Stephenson returns to the sector with Gate 7’s second newly designed role: director tourism development and events. Pre-pandemic, Stephenson had over 7 years’ experience intravel and tourism, holding senior marketing manager roles with both American Airlines in Sydney and AirAsia in Malaysia.

With a focus around marketing, events, people, and project management, Stephenson worked closely with Gate 7 in her role at American Airlines and the agency welcomes Laura’s great expertise.

Stephenson said: “It was a sad day to walk away from travel and tourism, but the last two years provided me a great opportunity to learn, grow and develop new skills.

“I am excited not only to be back in this collaborative industry but with the Gate 7 family. Seeing the industry firing and taking on new challenges with gusto.”

As the clock struck 12 on December 31, 2021, Gate 7 consisted of a team of six. It has a team of 17 with two more people to be onboarded before the clock once again strikes 12, to close 2022.

Now based at The Commons on George Street, the team is also enjoying its new city-based office, five days a week, creating a great platform for collaboration, creativity and learning.

Jo Palmer, managing director, says: “As the Australian market has rebounded, it’s so heart-warming to welcome back clients and grow our team again.

“We are thrilled to be once again ramping up the services we have long provided, while also investing significant resources in making sense of our new world and creating new opportunities for our clients. I’m excited for our new chapter.”
