Qatar Airways donates $80,000 to The Good Friday Appeal, raising critical funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital

Qatar Airways has made an $80,000 donation to today’s Good Friday Appeal, raising critical funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. This marks the third year in a row that the airline is supporting the initiative.

The Good Friday Appeal brings all sectors of the community together each year to help The Royal Children’s Hospital provide essential medical care for kids.

The annual fundraising event culminates in a telethon every Good Friday.

Alongside the donation, Qatar Airways is also gifting two business class tickets to Europe to the charity’s raffle, to generate further donations from the community. Qatar Airways’ team members based at the airline’s Australian headquarters in Melbourne will also be volunteering their time on the day, assisting staff at the hospital and taking calls from donors during the telethon.

Qatar has also donated to the raffle.

Qatar Airways Regional Manager for Australia and New Zealand, Mr Justin Kestel said: “Every year, the Good Friday Appeal inspires the wider community to unite for a good cause. Qatar Airways is honoured to play a part in raising funds for the Appeal, to ensure The Royal Children’s Hospital continues to provide world-class care for kids in need.

“We remain committed to serving the Australian market, by providing both a world-class airline experience, and supporting local causes.”

The Good Friday Appeal has raised $399 million since 1931, helping deliver the best possible care to young patients and their families at The Royal Children’s Hospital.

The donations have supported medical research, state-of-the-art equipment and technology, patient and family centred care programmes, as well as fostering staff excellence through education programs, scholarships and fellowships.
