Out of control airport buggy causes chaos on runway

What’s better than a Friday before a long weekend? Spending the remainder of your working week watching a video of an out of control buggy causing chaos at an airport.

The footage was captured by Dr Kevin Klauer, the chief executive of the American Osteopathic Association and posted to Twitter on Monday.

It shows an unmanned catering cart driving backwards in circles, spilling what appears to be bottles and cans as it goes, while stunned airport workers watch on. Eventually, one brave individual drives in out of nowhere on another piece of ground-support-equipment, knocking the cart on its side and putting an end to its rampage.

American Airlines said in a statement to Business Insider that it is investigating the incident, which took place at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

“Preliminary reports indicate that the accelerator became stuck and caused the catering cart to lose control,” the statement said.

The airline confirmed no employees were injured but the incident did cause a 10-minute flight delay.

“We appreciate the quick action of our team member who stopped the vehicle. Safety is our top priority and we are working with our partners to investigate the incident,” the airline said.
